Introducing:

AJ McCord

AJ is a reporter and host, covering all sports Denver. AJ knows how to sniff out the story, pursue the interview and deliver the information professionally and concisely. She engages her viewers with on-camera presence while she covers almost all Denver sports for a variety of networks and media.

Leading up to the Sochi games AJ delved into all aspects of the Winter Games, learning new sports, grasping the lingo and interviewing Olympians and Paralympians during every kind of weather. She's done live interviews during a blizzard and played a large part in getting some of the highest profile athletes into the Universal Sports Network studios for feature-length interviews. AJ was also the sideline reporter for Root Sports coverage of the 2013 Colorado High School Football State Championships. She researched, reported and interviewed athletes and coaches in front of a live audience at Sports Authority Field. Even in two blow-out games, AJ managed to keep the audience captivated with the "nuggets" and storylines she provided throughout the 4A and 5A Championships.

Prior to relocating to Denver, AJ was a SoCal girl born and bred. She spent four years covering San Diego sports, mostly professional, with an emphasis on the San Diego Chargers for NBC San Diego. She covered practices, and games providing almost all of NBC's website content for the team throughout their season, as well as feature packages that aired during NBC's live newscasts. During that time, AJ also integrated herself in the collegiate sports scene, covering San Diego State University for CBS Sports Network. As a production assistant she handled much of the pregame production and helped put out any in-game fires that come hand-in-hand with live television. She also spent a Padres season as Dick Enberg's personal research assistant. Throughout that time AJ finished her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism at Point Loma Nazarene University and was the campus' main authority on all PLNU athletics. She did live sportscasting, sideline reporting and produced packages for the university's local television station.

In her free time, AJ is an athlete to the core. She spent most of her childhood as a gymnast, while dabbling in soccer, softball and diving. Whenever she gets the chance, you can find AJ with her first love: the ocean. She's an avid surfer and outdoorswoman, in fact, prior to dedicating herself wholly to the sports television world, AJ was a whitewater rafting guide in Buena Vista, Colorado. The thrill of the outdoors is something she explores at every opportunity. As a passionate runner she has emceed several races, including the inagurual Nike Women's Half Marathon in Washington, D.C. and the San Diego Half Marathon. She loves that both races give back to the community, Nike gives proceeds to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, while the SD Half donates everything back to the city to help keep her hometown the beautiful city it is.
